PEPPERMINTS GIVE LOCAL YOUNGSTERS AN EARLY FESTIVE TREAT

With the festive season just around the corner, six of our Peppermints headed down to the Children’s Adventure Farm Trust (CAFT) for some yuletide fun on Friday.

Just a few months ago, we rolled up our sleeves and got our hands dirty to help with the farm’s playground, so we were delighted to go back to CAFT and see how we could help again.

Since we’re all still big kids at heart, we jumped at the chance to don reindeer, polar bear and Christmas tree costumes – all in the name of charity, of course! As an early festive surprise for 18 children with special needs, we spent the afternoon greeting the youngsters as they arrived for their Christmas party.

And a few hours of laughs, smiles and delicious turkey sandwiches later, we were officially in the festive spirit!

Based at Boothbank Farm on the outskirts of Altrincham, CAFT provides a variety of programmes for terminally ill, disabled and disadvantaged children from all over the North West. The farm gives children the opportunity to create memories that will last a lifetime and is a special place where illness and sorrow can be forgotten for a little while.

We loved seeing the children’s faces light up as they spotted us and it was heart-warming to see how much passion the CAFT staff have for their role. As well as giving us the chance to play dress-up for the afternoon, our visit also gave us the opportunity to meet these children and make a difference to their day.

CAFT needs to raise £1 million a year just to keep its doors open and welcomes any fundraising ideas and opportunities. To find out how you can get involved visit http://www.caft.co.uk/holidays-with-us.
