OH CRUMBS! PEPPERMINT SODA TAKES A BITE OUT OF CAKETOBER

If you follow team Peppermint on Twitter (@peppertweets), you’ll be well aware that we’re a real bunch of foodies.

We have our very own resident Mary Berry – account director Lucy Wray who’s a dab hand at creating the most delicious baked goods this side of the M60.  Rarely a week passes without some sweet treat being brought into the office for the team to enjoy.

So when our client, the Eword, required our PR support this month with Caketober, we didn’t think twice about taking on the project and getting involved ourselves.

Caketober is a month-long celebration of cakes and fancy dress, which has encouraged companies, organisations and friends to hold a bake sale and fancy dress day to raise money for Forever Manchester – a charity that puts money back into Manchester’s communities.

Last week, eight contestants bravely put their baking skills to the test at Caketober’s Great Manchester Bake Off.  Held at The Grill on New York Street, the event was a towering success and was attended by some of Manchester’s biggest movers and shakers.

Judges included Manchester Confidential’s Mark Garner and Sarah Wilson from Hey Little Cupcake, who were wowed by some of the entries.

Chris McCarthy, from Adam Recruitment, was crowned the Caketober champion with his Halloween-themed cake, while the city’s very own superhero, Captain Manchester, was handed the Caketober Wooden Spoon!

Today has been Peppermint Soda’s turn to hold our own sweet-toothed event. From brownies and cupcakes topped with liquorice spiders, to granola bars and even homemade peppermint creams (nom nom nom), we’ve well and truly devoured our body weight in cake. So much so, all us ladies are now concerned about not fitting into our dresses for the launch of Oast House’s winter teepee tonight.

Congrats team Peppermint for getting into the Caketober spirit. Now who wants that last brownie?
