Peppermint: a fond farewell (for now!)

This will be my last blog for a little while as I get ready to enter a new world of nappy changes, night-time feeds and the sleep-deprived whirlwind of early parenthood. Yes, maternity leave is calling and – despite regularly referring to the next 12 months as a much-needed ‘year off’ before being vehemently corrected by other parents in the office – I’m feeling rather mixed about leaving my beloved Peppermints.

I joined Peppermint in May 2013 as an account manager and can honestly say I’ve never once looked back. Now an account director, I’ve seen the agency flourish over the past two and a half years and I’m immeasurably proud to have been part of that. So, with my last blog for the next year or so, I wanted to take the opportunity to highlight some of my favourite things about being a Peppermint; things I’ll miss like crazy over the next year.

Naturally, the first thing on my list is the team. Working here is genuinely like working with all your best friends and barely a day goes without hearing peals of laughter. The team is, without a doubt, the funniest, nicest and friendliest bunch of people I’ve ever had the good fortune to work with. They make me laugh every day and I know that they will always be there to support one another through thick and thin. They’re also exceptionally talented and hardworking and they amaze me every single day with their dedication, both to their clients and to each other.

Secondly, it’s the clients. I’ve been fortunate enough to work on some of the most exciting projects of my career while at Peppermint and that’s all down to having clients who trust us to push the boundaries. Peppermint has an eclectic mix of clients, which means no two days are ever the same. I’m not going to embarrass anyone by singling them out, but I’m lucky to have met some incredible people through my work and made some real friendships along the way.

Third on my list is the systems that are in place. This might sound a bit boring, but as a self-confessed Excel addict, there’s nothing I love more than a good plan (it’ll be interesting to see how I deal with an infant with no concept of a spreadsheet!). We’ve invested heavily in our systems to make sure that they are the best they can be, turning out quality work on time and on point. That goes for the management of the business too – there’s a process for everything which means that the agency is run impeccably.

Moving on, one of the things I love most about Peppermint is how supportive it is. There’s no shouting, no blame games and no backstabbing – everyone who works here wants to enjoy their job and we all strive for a harmonious atmosphere. That means lots of clubbing together to get things done, supporting each other when things get tough and working as a team to solve any problems.

And then there are the treats! Morning meetings always come with a side order of croissants and fresh fruit. Our biscuit tin is second to none, while the sweetie jars in reception have got me through many a 3pm energy slump! There are a few baking enthusiasts on our team, too, and the days when someone walks in with a cake tin full of freshly baked goodness are always very good days indeed.

I could go on forever, but I think you probably get the gist. Peppermint has been more than a job to me over the last few years – it’s a home away from home and I know I’ll miss a million and one little things while I’m away bringing up baby Drake.

So, to all my wonderful colleagues, clients and contacts – please don’t change! I’ll be back before you know it.
