Another event that does the job!

The Peppermints were on hand again yesterday to support Bolton College at the annual Jobs and Skills Fair, in partnership with Bolton Council, Bolton at Home, Job Centre Plus, Bolton University and Bolton Workbased Learning.
Now in its third year, the event was set up to tackle unemployment in the area, while promoting access to learning and training. Bigger and better than ever before – even surpassing last year’s award-winning effort – over 75 companies exhibited and there were more than 500 jobs up for grabs!
The event certainly lived up to its billing and it was one that I was really proud to be part of for the second year on the trot. There’s nothing I love more than rolling up my sleeves and getting stuck in during client events. Dashing from one end of the college to another, making sure that everyone was where they were meant to be at the right time and directing photographers and film crews around the campus – which was bustling with job-hungry people. If that wasn’t enough, we facilitated interviews with journalists, whilst speaking with some of the many thousands of people searching for work.
Peppermint also rallied together some of the North West’s top employment bods, in a bid to help Bolton’s job-seekers find employment. The experts enlisted were The Apprentice’s Adam Corbally, Mike Finnegan, a CEO of a leading positive change specialist company and employability expert, Jamie MacGregor, managing director of two successful, Bolton-based companies.
The inspirational trio provided advice throughout the day – there was also a range of drop-in clinics and workshops for individuals to get advice on writing CVs, applying for jobs and preparing for interviews. What’s more, Granada Reports’ television reporter and presenter, Elaine Willcox, was also on hand to add a little pomp and ceremony to the day.
With coverage in the likes of The Sun and The Mirror, you could say that it was all in a day’s work – everything that makes PR such a varied and exciting profession to be in. Roll on the Bolton Jobs and Skills Fair 2014!
